The third Matrix Movie came with the tagline, "Everything that has a beginning has an end".
And, after seeing the futuristic action franchise run out of steam over its two sequels, I was relieved that Matrix Revolutions was to be the last.
But the trilogy's star, KEANU REEVES, has now raised the gruesome possibility that another two movies could be on their way.
Speaking at a lecture at the London School Of Performing Arts, he said the writer-directors, the Wachowski Brothers, have finished treatments on The Matrix 4 and 5.
And he also hinted that they could be in 3D.
A US website reports: "He [Keanu] met the Wachowskis for lunch over Christmas and stated that they had completed work on a two-picture script treatment that would see him return to the world of the Matrix as Neo.
"He says the brothers have met with Jim Cameron to discuss the pros and cons of 3D and are looking to deliver something which has never been seen again."
And he told the audience that the new movies would have to live up to the standards of the first.
"Keanu stated that he still has an obligation to the fans to deliver a movie worthy of the title The Matrix and he swears this time that the treatment will truly revolutionise the action genre like the first movie.
"The Wachowskis are working on a movie called Cloud Atlas at the moment, once that concludes they will talk again."
The final movie, The Matrix Revolutions, saw the machines and the humans living in peace and appeared to be a conclusive ending to the futuristic tale.
Since then the brothers have directed one film, the action flop Speed Racer.
And while the Matrix sequels were panned, the three movies have still netted £370 million at the box office. - The Sun
